Daddy-Daughter Chili Cookoff

Chili-Cookoff-FlyerAmerican Heritage Girls Troop FL‑0118 is excited to announce its first annual Daddy-Daughter Chili Cookoff.

WHEN:

Saturday, November 7, 2015
12 noon to 2 pm

WHERE:

Community center (parish hall) at Good Shepherd Catholic Church

TWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE:

Each $10 ticket provides entry to a daddy-daughter pair (additional daughters may enter on the same ticket for an additional $5 per daughter at the door). A daddy-daughter pair may enter the chili cookoff by preparing in advance and bringing a crock of their best chili. Or they may simply come to visit, taste chili, and vote. Please make checks payable to Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

HOW TO WIN:

There are two ways for chili contestants to win. First, a panel of celebrity judges will taste each contestant’s chili and select the judges’ choice. Second, upon admission, each ticketholder will be issued five vote tickets, and additional vote tickets will be available at the door for $1 per vote ticket. The contestant whose chili receives the most vote tickets wins the people’s choice!

CRAFTS AND GAMES:

In addition to the chili cookoff, the event will have the feel of a family tailgate. For a craft, the girls will make pom-poms. There will be a football throw skill game for dads and daughters. We will also have, included with the entry ticket, a photo booth with props for dads and daughters to pose and have a high-quality image emailed to them, commemorating the event.

HOW DOES THE FUNDRAISER SUPPORT THE TROOP?

Limited resources remain from troop dues after paying national fees to support liability insurance and program development, and paying for embroidered badges to recognize the girls’ achievements. The Daddy-Daughter Chili Cookoff will, among others, help financially support the troop in three key areas:

First, it will help send girls to the troop’s annual trip, this year to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens “After Dark Adventures” safari sleepover.

Second, it will help girls to attend summer camp.

Finally, it will help defer the costs of registering and training adult leaders. The safety of the girls is the troop’s highest priority, which means having adult leaders who are screened and trained. This includes the $26 registration fee per adult leader, and $58 for adults receiving First Aid/CPR certification.

Thank you for your support of American Heritage Girls.
